Borfriend's Blanket Update (BBU)
Here is what it looks like this week with all the squares laid out so far. I have about 43 1/4 squares. There is the 1/4 because I had to finish off the little bit of yard left from the blue skein. I have officially used one whole skein up...good thing I bought new ones this weekend...the red and orange will be going soon too. :) 43 down, 127 more to go :)
Scrambled eggs :)
This morning I had yummy scrambled eggs with toast and banana. I
seasoned the eggs with season salt, pepper, and Franks Red Hot. Nothing
too exciting, but totally hit the spot. O and put a little milk into the
eggs. My other new fix is ice water with frozen strawberries instead
of ice and a slice of lemon. Fruity and fresh :) I got a little carried
away with the pictures lol.
Disappointing Max and Erma's
On Saturday I went to a friend's birthday at Max and Erma's in Evansville. It was a complete disaster on the half of the restaurant. I agree there were a lot of us, and they should have been better prepared. They had a young kid working both of our tables (about 25 of us in total) and it seemed he was rather new employee. The food was not spectacular and not bad. Just nothing too exciting. It took us almost an hour to get out final checks. Yes we all had individual checks, but they screwed up almost all of our checks after he came through and specifically asked us what we each had on each check. Then they finally got the checks right, but one of the party members complained and got the gratuity taken off. It was a complete disaster.

Siracha chicken
We found a recipe of sorts for chicken wings using siracha sauce. I basically made that with out the wing part. I used honey, lime juice, siracha sauce, chopped garlic clove, and plenty of fresh cilantro, marinated it for a couple of hours, and then baked it. It is accompanied with minute made brown rice that was spiced with paprika, cumin, garlic powder, and a small amount of butter. The salad is just some sugar snap peas, radishes, red wine vinegar, EVOO, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. very yummy dinner. I could have sue a little more kick to the chicken, but still very tasty.

Egg Drop Soup
Egg drop soup is one of my biggest loves. It is so easy to make, fun to play with, and cheap. Just need some chicken broth, sesame oil, an egg, and corn starch dissolved in cold water.. Everything else is just making it to your liking. today I added some garlic powder, soy sauce, and siracha sauce. Totally hits the spot. The sad part is that I ruined egg drop soup that you get in Chinese buffets for ever because theirs is bland and this is..well the completely opposite. O well, its cheaper here :)
PS. This soup does not have to be made with chicken broth, it also works with beef and vegetable. It can also be made without the Asain influence, just don't use the sesame oil. Just play with it till you like it.

Blanket for my love I
As I have said in a previous post, I have taken a hiatus from my Babbette blanket and am going to make one for my boyfriend for his birthday. He is asking for 7' by 4', so that is how big it will be before the border. That means I have to make 170 squares. My goal is 21 squares a week...more will be better. My deadline will be May 26th...his birthday. I have my work cut out for me. So far, if I stay on pace, I will have at least 22 this week. I don't remember where I got the pattern from. I had made if for my blanket, and had to use one of those to figure out how to make it. If you like it I can try to write a pattern for it.
Chicken and Asparagus
So while I was home for spring break my mom gave me a package of Kraft Fresh Take rosemary and roasted garlic flavor. Have to say both my roomie and I scarfed it down. I also made some garlic bread with smoked provolone and the roomie sauteed some asparagus with salt and garlic. Fab dinner!
Smoked Ribs
I have been slacking on my updating of blog a little...school has been a little hectic. So here is my dinner from Monday. This was smokey pig heaven! My mom had bought some ribs and my Uncle Boo smoked them. Baked with some Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory Brown Sugar....mouth watering! I was so happy that night. Had this earlier this week.
St. Urho' s day
To all my Finns...especially those from MN, Happy St. Urho's Day!!! In honor of my Finish grandmother I ate a pasty my aunt made. My grandma used to make these every time we visited Northern Minnesota. A pasty is similar to a pot pie minus the gravy, and in the shape of a calzone. It has a mixture of carrots, potatoes, meat...and coming from my Aunt Cherie and Uncle Boo it may very well be venison, other spices, and wrapped in dough. Major comfort food. Granted it is not specifically Finish like kalamojakka, but its the best I can do for now.

Babette III
Here is the latest addition to my blanket. its getting there. I am gonna be taking a break from it for a while to make my boyfriend's blanket hopefully in time for his birthday.
Spring is in the air
Today is bittersweet, it is the end of my spring break and I have to head back to school today :(. However, it is gorgeous out today!!!! Better yet, signs of spring are everywhere! The robins have been around for a while already, the red wing black birds are here, and my dad even saw a frog in our pond! I even heard the sand hill cranes and saw them circling. I get the best pic I could, there were a ways a way, but I am so excited. The drive today should be nice.

Night with my bestie!
Tuesday night I went over to my bff's house and we had a very nice evening..despite her dog trying to wipe his butt down my leg. Good times. Our first creation was our new drink- Berry Smooth. It has 1/3c raspberry vodka, 2/3c sprite, and a package of Yoplait smoothie in mixed berried. It was HEAVEN!!! OMG so good. Then we made pineapple upside down cake. great evening :)
MMM Hotdog
I was in charge of dinner the other night. I made Vienna beef hotdogs, waffle fries with season sauce, and ketchup with Franks Redhot for the dippin. My hotdog had mustard, ketchup, celery salt, and pickled peppers. not too shabby. Also..shout out to my Uncle Boo. I found his beef/venison jerky sticks in the fridge...he makes the BEST jerky EVER!!!

Mine^
Dave's^ The other day my boyfriend and I went to Bakers Square for some pie and coffee. The coffee was ok and the pie was really good. I had the Carmel Pecan Silk Supreme and Dave had French Silk. I was a little disappointed by mine because there was so much to it that I could not taste all the different flavors. I couldn't taste the pecan pie part at all :(Next time I will get the coconut cream.

El tres de marzo
So today my family celebrated el 3 de marzo and we had a total feast...and no 3 de marzo is not a real holiday. What happened was we were going to have a pizza party with a whole bunch of homemade pizzas and it ended with us having a whole bunch of Mexican food. My aunt brought tamales, my mom made chile rellenos, I made homemade chips and salsa that I gone from this blog here..except I added chipotle powder to the chips...turned out good...and there was a bunch of other good food/drink. Great time with great friends and family. :)
